Hawk Baby

Yesterday when we were at Aurora seeing the Hawks, a photographer from The Examiner newspaper came up to me, asking if he could take a photo of Kobe in his Hawks gear. It was in the paper this morning.

Mad Monday

Today at lunch time I went and picked up Aaron and the boys from school to take them to Aurora Stadium. It was a very exciting day as Hawthorn were flying down to show off the premiership cup. Aaron was so excited as he had special permission to go for a few hours as he wasn't on class anyway.

The boys anxiously waiting for it all to start.

Before the team arrived the crowd was warmed up with lots of singing of the Hawks theme song - over and over again!! Harri really got into it.

Kobe on the other hand wasn't so sure about all the noise and yelling and kept bursting into tears!

The crowd kept on growing and lucky for us, it was such a nice day. They are saying there was about 5000 people there.

Nicki, Alex, Maddi, Alex and Mum all came in as well to join in on the celebrations. Mum has finally decided to jump on the bandwagon and join all the Hawks supporters!

Finally there was a bit of action and it was so exciting! A helicopter flew straight into the stadium while we were all there - arriving with three of the players - Grant Birchall, Luke Hodge and Sam Mitchell and the coach - Alistair Clarkson.

They got out and straight up onto the back of a ute with the premiership cup!!

Finally the rest of the team arrived and after a speech by Jeff Kennett were introduced one by one.

The players were each given a Tassie devil soft toy. Some of them had fun tying up one of the soft toys to some helium balloons, and were trying to get them to take off into the air!!

The biggest cheers were definitely for Shane Crawford and Buddy Franklin.

It was a really fun afternoon, and exciting to be a part of it all.

The players hung around to sign autographs afterwards, but there was no way we were going to line up - the line up was massive. We already have most of their autographs anyway, so we were just happy to celebrate with them.

Two Harry's

I just noticed how cute Harri was with Pop in our family photo!! Check out how he is holding Pop's hand.

Pop looked at Harri today and said 'what's this one's name?' as I think he knew it was Harri, but wanted to check. I said it was 'Harrison', but we call him 'Harri' and he smiled and said 'I thought so' (Pop's name is Henry, but everyone calls him Harry). I wouldn't blame him not knowing his name - as he has something like 49 great grand kids! During Uncle Chayne's speech he must have said 'Harry' at one stage as Harri came over to me and asks 'is he talking about me!?'.

65 Years Together

Today we went to church at Deloraine as it is Nan and Pop's 65th wedding anniversary. This is them 65 years ago to the day.

and today

Pop is still in hospital, so Dad and Nan went to pick him up so he could come out and celebrate his anniversary for a little while. Uncle Chayne made a little speech and before Dad took him back to hospital, I put on a DVD for Nan and Pop that I had made for the family which had photos of the whole family as well as old photos from their entire lives. Nan was amazed by it all. It was nice watching them while it was on - Pop grabbed hold of Nan's hand.

Jay had fun running around with my new camera, snapping away ( I think he is going to take after his Mum!).

Here are a few of the pics he took - including what's left of the anniversary cake!

Pop was pretty with it today, even asking me where my new camera was as he heard that I won it and said everyone had been telling him that they saw a photo of him up at the shopping centre.

We took the opportunity of seeing Nan and Pop together to get some family photos with them.

Kobe is getting almost as big as Alex now!

Balloons

p.s. on the AFL grandfinal post - thanks to whoever surprised us with the brown and gold balloons tied out the front this morning! We were going to do it anyway, and Aaron assumed I did it! It was a nice surprise! :) We are still trying to figure out who it was!

That's What I'm Talkin' About!

Oh what a stressful day in the King house, today! It started off with the usual grand final traditions - Aaron getting up early and going out to get ALL the newspapers and then spending the morning watching the Grand Final Breakfast on TV as well as everything else leading up to the grand final, and then his Dad coming around to watch the game with us.

The only thing different this year, was that Aaron also decorated the house!

Jay, Noah and I had to go to an appointment this morning, so we put Jay's streamers on the antenna of our van. Lots of people we passed while we were driving were giving us the thumb or waved. When we pulled up back at home our neighbours had some friends around. They were in the back yard and a guy yells out 'Go the Cats!'. Jay gave him a big 'boooo the Cats' and the guy then cracked up and said 'No - go the Hawks!'.

I knew it was going to be a tense afternoon and hoped that the boys all behaved as I knew I wasn't going to be getting much help from Aaron, who was going to be enthralled in the game. Lucky for me they were pretty good.

The tense moments even before the game started! Aaron decided to turn off his phone during the game, but would check it at the end of every quarter and he would have about 5 messages from different people.

Jay had fun cheering the Hawks on till the second quarter, when he decided that he wanted to go to his friends house who was having a footy party.

I took him around to watch the end of the game, and it was probably lucky he got out of the house as there was a LOT of yelling - especially at the umpires who were very biased against the Hawks.

About 8 minutes before the end of the game the tears started!!! Oh boy - I didn't know whether to laugh or be scared!!!! Aaron was sooo emotional.

About two minutes before the end the tears really flowed and Harri went over to Aaron and asked 'what's the matter Dad?!', and gave him a big hug. Check out the tear!!! See - I'm not exaggerating! I had to keep reminding Aaron that it's 'just a game'!

Thank goodness they won, as I don't think we could have coped if they didn't. This was taken at the final siren.

In the words of Shane Crawford - 'That's what I'm talkin' about!'. Go the Hawks!!!! Now we have to get through another emotional day when they come down on Monday to show off the cup.

Footy Colours Week!!

Since tomorrow is the AFL Grandfinal, it is 'footy colours' day at the boys school, and also at Aaron's school. Aaron however has decided that it has been 'footy colours week' since Hawthorn is in the grandfinal for the first time in 17 years!

Teachers don't really have an official dress code, but Aaron prides himself on looking half respectable at school, and always wears a shirt and tie unless he is teaching P.E that day. This week however he is looking anything but respectable in all his Hawthorn gear!! I forgot to get a photo on Monday, but he actually did wear a shirt and tie that day - just that it was a Hawthorn tie! It was the first day back at school and he came home with a headache. He cracked me up as he ended up falling asleep on the couch, all snuggled up in his Hawks sleeping bag!

Yesterday

Check out the 'sexy' socks! How embarrassing! If only Hawthorn had better colours!!
