Today is Mum's birthday (almost another big 0 birthday!) so we invited her and Dad in for lunch. We had a lovely lunch and while I was at work this morning Aaron whipped her up a birthday cake.
As soon as they got here Harri came whispering to me 'can we go and stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house and sleep in the tent?' (something they like to do each summer). I told him that they had to go to a meeting tonight so it wasn't a good night, but Mum said it would still be okay for them to go if they wanted.
Kobe heard what was going on and started to cry saying he wanted to go as well. Mum was more than happy to have them, so the boys packed their bags and a few hours later they were off with Mum and Dad for two nights!
Harri was so excited to go until it was actually time to go, and then he burst into tears and started stressing. He'll love it once he is there and is looking foward to riding their motor bike all day tomorrow.
This is the first time in TWELVE years (except for one very quick night in Melbourne) that we have been child free overnight - let alone TWO nights! We have felt like we have really needed some time alone since Noah passed away, so we are looking forward to some time together with no boys moaning, fighting, complaining, or wanting our attention. It's a pity I have to go to work tomorrow afternoon.
So there is no cooking for two nights, no cleaning for the next day or so and lots of time to just relax, hang out and enjoy the peace together! Someone was just a LITTLE bit excited as they drove off!
Nothing like 3 boys and a tent to keep you young Lorraine!
ReplyDeleteHaha I love that last shot. Simon took Hallie and Ollie to the meeting if your Mum was wondering what to do with them. My kids would love having them there. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful break on your own, you deserve it.
