Poor Kobe has been so miserable for about three days. His temp has been up to 40 degrees most of the time and comes down for a couple of hours with Panadol, but then shoots right back up again.
I was starting to get a bit worried about him today when the only thing he had to eat for two days was a quarter of a banana, a wafer biscuit and half a tub of yoghurt. His breath started to smell of ketones, like when Noah was on the ketogenic diet which I knew wasn't a good sign. He was drinking his bottle but I was starting to worry that it wasn't enough.
Today I was desperate for him to eat...anything at all! I asked him if he wanted a freddo (even though he had eaten nothing else all day) to which he said yes, so I quickly gave it to him before he changed his mind. Earlier in the day we went grocery shopping and he told me (in Kobe's own way - he really needs to learn to talk!) that he wanted a pop top juice and watermelon. I'm not usually keen on playing $3.95 a kg for watermelon, but I didn't care and grabbed it as I was just happy that he was telling me he wanted something to eat. He had two tiny little cubes of it and thought that was enough.
This afternoon I asked him if he wanted another of his favourite foods - potato chips, but he straight away said he didn't. When I asked him if he wanted an icy pole he nodded his head so an icy pole it was. The poor little man was feeling so miserable that he couldn't even hold it up to lick it!
He has hardly slept the last few days which means I haven't either. He cried and cried when I put him to bed this afternoon, so I did what I normally hate doing and got him up and just let him sit up on the couch watching ABC kids. Within a couple of minutes he was out to it.
I got him into the Dr this afternoon and he said one of his ears was quite red and he had tonsilitis! No wonder he wouldn't eat. After two doses of antibiotics and some more panadol he picked right up tonight and was back to making us laugh and wanting to watch Justin Bieber on YouTube!
Hopefully he will be back to his old happy self, very soon. The grizzly, sick, tired Kobe isn't much fun.
Poor Kobester.

Are you over it? :) hehehe.
See you tomorrow :)
Kobe is SOOOOO funny in the last post! Poor boy, a bit of Bieber would have perk him right up, who needs antibiotics! (:
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad he is doing better! It's always difficult to have a little one not feeling well. We wish we could take it all away. And when they won't eat or drink it's even more concerning. I'm glad the doc could do something for him.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm curious about two things: what is a FREDDO and do you call popsicles ICEY POLES?
poor little guy, sure happy he is feeling better.
ReplyDeletelol Hope. A Freddo is a chocolate frog made by Cadbury's which they just named a 'freddo frog' and yes an icy pole is what you call a popsicle :)
