Our Last Act For You

This morning Aaron and I had the honour of dressing Noah for his funeral, which is being held tomorrow morning.  We were so anxious about it all night and morning, and I felt physically sick as I got ready to go.

As soon as we walked in the room at the funeral home and saw him laying under a white blanket, our hearts melted and our anxiety left.  He looked so beautiful and peaceful.

Both of us just couldn't believe how lovely he looked and I just said 'oh Noah!!' as I saw how peaceful he was, and Aaron said 'my monkey' as we both went straight over and kissed and stroked his face.

We spent minutes just rubbing his face with tears streaming down our faces, and then set about dressing him in his white clothes. It was a beautiful thing to be in the room with his body, knowing he was at peace and that his spirit was free.

We spent about an hour with his body and ended by kneeling beneath his white coffin together, holding each others hand while our other hand rested on his body to say a prayer together.  Tears streamed as we thanked Heavenly Father for allowing us to have ten years together.

We would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

  1. Oh sweet Noah, it must have been so beautiful to have a prayer together. The privilege I'm sure went both ways. Oh yes, I understand in a heartbeat again. Xx

On a lighter note...."Do you want to say a prayer"?
I think that prayer was the most heartfelt prayer that you have both said.
    I love you both.
