A Happy Day

When Noah is feeling well and is happy, he looks really bright and alert.  Last night was one of those times, so I grabbed the camera to video him. 

Check out how lovely Jay is with him. He's such a good brother to him and always notices when he's having a good day and will often say to me 'Noah is happy today' or 'Noah is having a good day today'. 

Wrist Band

It seems that there are so many wrist bands out now that people wear for different causes or to promote different things.  About a month ago Aaron came home with this wrist band on, that one of his students had made it for him.  They obviously think he is pretty awesome.

I think so too :)

Bloods

What was meant to be a quick phone call to Noah's paediatrician's office to get a script for a med, turned out to be a very long afternoon at the hospital.   The receptionist said that if I wanted I could just have an appointment the next day, and get the script done at the same time.  We usually have an appointment every 3 months, but if something urgent comes up they always fit us in.   A few things have been going on with Noah, and I didn't think we could wait till his next appointment to talk it over, so I gratefully snapped up the appointment before they gave it away to anyone else.

After lots of discussion his doctor decided that it was time to have a blood test as we hadn't had one done since the last time he was in hospital.  We had to go up to the hospital to pick up some meds, so thought we may as well get the bloods done at the same time to save another trip.

Noah is always really hard to get blood from.  They always have trouble finding a vein and because he is so puffy lately, it doesn't make it any easier.  We spent a while down in pathology while one nurse and then a second one tried to find a vein.

They didn't want to try again so they rang upstairs to the kids ward, to see if any doctors were around that could try to get some.  They said to come up which Kobe was so excited about, as he knew it meant he got to have a play in their cool playroom (phone photos sorry!).

We waited for about half an hour for the doctors while they treated another little girl.

We finally got into the treatment room, and then had to wait a little longer. 

Kobe was so good all afternoon - he loves the hospital and was kept occupied by just checking everything out.

 

After a couple of attempts in the same spot they finally found a vein and Noah was bleeding really well until he jerked his arm, and the needle came right out!

They then attempted two more spots in his hands, before deciding that he was too cold (Noah's normal temp is 35.5 C) and too puffy to get anything from, and told us to come back in a week and to make sure we got him as warm as possible before coming in. 

It took an hour and forty five minutes for them to decide that it wasn't going to happen, so it was a long afternoon for nothing, but Noah was so good throughout it all.  Check out his cute fat rolls - I'm thinking it's about time he joined the gym! ;)

Everyone is happy...

now that Dad is home.  There were hugs all round this morning.  Kobe was so excited when he discovered that Aaron was in our bed when he got up this morning.  He said 'hi Daddy!' and then five minutes later 'I love you too Daddy' (instead of just saying 'I love you' he always says 'I love you too').


Aaron had a great weekend (despite the Hawks terrible loss to the pies), but is really glad to be home and said he missed us all.  I was expecting the usual 'this is the last time I'm doing it', but he said he felt different this time as they didn't do as much walking and wouldn't mind doing another one. We will see what happens next year.  

I've been trying to find the camera he took with him to see if he had any cool photos but can't find it.  I did however find a thank you card and chocolates from the students...I wonder if I will be killed if he gets home and all the chocolates are gone!? ;)

Missing Daddy

Harri is missing Daddy very much.  It's been a very long three days for Harri without him.  Tonight at bedtime we tried to ring him on his mobile to say goodnight, but he didn't answer his phone so Harri went to bed very sad. 

After a few tears, the phone rang and he got to say goodnight, but it actually made him sadder as he sobbed 'goodnight Daddy, see you tomorrow' to him.

Thank goodness it's only three days, and not three weeks!

Another Year, Another Footy Trip

Every year Aaron says he isn't sure if he is going to run the school footy trip again, as it's a huge job to organise it, but every year he always seems to end up doing it again, and always has a great time.   This weekend has been the footy trip and I think it's the 7th footy trip he has been on with the school.  The past few months he has been busy meeting with students, organising flights, accommodation, buses, tickets to the games and working out an itinerary.


Aaron and three other teachers took 50 grade 9 and 10 students to Melbourne to watch three games of footy, and to do other activities in Melbourne.  It is the biggest trip so far for the school.  He's 'lucky' (so he thinks - others may not :) as he will be watching Hawthorn play four live games in a row, as we saw them at Aurora two weeks ago, in Melbourne last week when we went as a family, he will be watching them play this weekend with the students, and then they play again at Aurora next week!  He went off well prepared with all his Hawks gear.

He left yesterday morning at 4.30 am and I heard Harri get up just before he left to give him a cuddle before he left. That didn't stop Harri getting up at 7.30 am for school and crying because he 'missed Daddy' (already!).

I always say to Aaron that I talk to him more when he is away in Melbourne for three days than when he is home, as he seems to be constantly ringing or the boys want to ring him.  It's always a long weekend for me when he is gone, but it doesn't worry me as I'm happy he gets to do something fun and gets away for the weekend and I find I'm more organised when he is gone, as I know I have to do everything myself.   I was very lucky this weekend to have Alison and Di offer to help me out a little.  Last night Alison came around and looked after Noah for me while we went to watch Jalen play basketball.  It's not nice taking Noah out at this time of the year, so I was very grateful that he could stay home where it's nice and warm. 

When we got back from basketball we had fun Skyping with Joey, and talking to Aaron on the phone (for probably the 5th time that day!).

It's been fun watching what Aaron is up to via Facebook as he updates it using his phone, and has been posting photos. The boys love being able to see things instantly and know what he's doing at that exact moment.  He was so excited yesterday to be on the MCG tour with Alan Joyce as their tour guide.   I would have no clue who he is, but supposedly he's an old premiership winning coach for Hawthorn.  Aaron said he felt like crying when he saw him and told him that it was an honour to meet him and supposedly Alan was very modest about it all.

Last night they watched the Demons V the Bulldogs.  He was loving it as you can send in photos of yourself at the game and they put some of them up on the big screen at Etihad Stadium, and one of Aaron's pics got up on the screen.   Supposedly that earnt high fives all round from the students near him!

This morning Di came up for a couple of hours and looked after Noah, Jay and Kobe for me while I took Harri to Auskick. He loves going to Auskick with Aaron and was sad that he wasn't here to take him but still had fun - especially in his new footy boots that were a bargain in Melbourne last week.

Straight after Auskick was over, Harri wanted to ring Aaron to tell him all about it (probably his third time he'd spoken to him that day!).

Noah was very spoiled while we were gone, and was fresh and clean when we got home. We can't have In Home Support on the weekend, but Di offered to look after the boys as a friend, so I felt very lucky to come home to having Noah all sorted for the day as she still did her usual IHS tasks for me.

Aaron has had lots of fun today going shopping, and to Luna Park before going to a game tonight - Cats V Bombers.

It seems that at least once every hour Harri says 'can I ring Daddy? I have something to tell him'.  I text Aaron to see if he is busy, and then he will ring to talk to the boys.   The thing that Harri always wants to tell him is about the football that he's been watching on TV and updates Aaron on all the scores!

Kobe has also loved talking to him on the phone.  Whenever he hears a door open he yells 'Daddy's back!' and then starts crying when he realises that he's actually not.

Aaron doesn't get back till 11 pm tomorrow night so the boys won't see him till monday, which seems like a lifetime for them, but it's been nice that they've been able to ring him lots and see his photos on facebook.  I'm sure he will be so tired when he gets home - it usually takes him at least a week to catch up on sleep, especially since he has to be at work again on Monday as usual.

It's only a few more weeks and it's my turn to go away for a couple of days, while Aaron is a single Dad for the weekend :)

Movies

A good friend gave us some movie tickets, and the boys were very keen to go and see the new movie Cars 2, so we took them this week after school while we had care for Noah.  Even though it was on early,we were still all very tired from our trip to Melbourne.

At the end of the movie I looked at Kobe and cracked up laughing as this is what I saw...

I'm not sure how long he had his 3D glasses on upside down for, but he only slept for the last ten minutes or so, as I remember thinking it was nice he had finally sat down and was quiet :)   It really was a good movie though!
