Holidaying in Hobart

While we were in Hobart last week for the Barnados Mother of the Year awards, we thought we would make the most of it and stay in Hobart for a couple of days.  Mum came down with us to spend a few days staying with my brother Jared and his family as they have moved down south.

When Kobe was tiny we went to Zoodoo as a family which is at Richmond, and I remember it being a lot of fun so thought it was time to go back.  Kobe of course couldn't remember it at all, and Harri couldn't remember very much of it.

The thing the boys remembered the most was the safari bus, and that's actually the reason I wanted to go back, so we did that first.

When you get on the bus they give you a cup of animal food and as soon as you get in the paddock with the ostriches, they come running over to the bus and reach right into the bus and peck the food straight out of your hand - cup and all!

There was a lot of screaming, moving away from the side (Harri just about sat on a strange man's knee to get away!) and lots of laughs.

Jay was not impressed with all the animal feed that went down his jumper and pants! I couldn't stop laughing.

On the safari bus you also go into the paddock with the zebras and camels.

The only girl that's interested in Jay! ;)

Photobomb by a camel!
After the safari bus we went and saw the lions.

Harri was pumped to be able to feed one of them through the wire.

We loved the noises that the Tasmanian devils were making - I had never really heard them make any noise before and was surprised that actually made a growling and screeching noise.

I couldn't resist taking a sneaky snap of the monk with the kangaroo :)

We were all keen to get a selfie with a kangaroo.

After Zoodoo we went into Richmond to have a quick look around.  Mum said she had actually  never been before, so she loved seeing the old buildings, church, cemetery and the oldest bridge in Australia.

We met my brother Jared in Hobart and he picked up Mum, and we then went to meet our friend Sarah and her boys for tea.  We were lucky to be able to crash at their house for a couple of nights, and unfortunately her hubby Joe was away for a few days. Sarah told us about Burger Haus so we were very keen to try it out.  The burgers were really good and the shakes were amazing!

After I helped out at the Mother of the Year awards we headed down to Glen Huon to visit my brother Jared and his wife Becky and the kids.  The boys were very keen to have a go on the tyre swing before we went to their place.

My nieces Kelsea and Maddi were at the end of the driveway selling apples and flowers. It was so cute!

They have a beautiful view from their house.

My sister Nicki and her husband Alex and their kids are moving to the USA in a little while, so Kelsea and Maddi were spending some time together before Maddi had to go back to Melbourne.

There's always lots of wrestling, noise and tickling when Uncle Jared is around.  The boys love it!

Jay has the face swap app on his phone, so we had lots of laughs as we did lots of face swaps.

It was lovely to spend some time with them, as we haven't seen them for a while.

We had a lovely time staying with Sarah and the boys. We always talk about how we wish we lived closer to each other as we have a lot of laughs together.   The boys all get along so well, especially Harri and Taj who are into a lot of the same things.  We did some more face swaping before we left, and couldn't stop laughing.

We had a lovely couple of days in Hobart catching up with family and friends.

  1. I wish I could get a kangaroo selfie! FaceSwap is the weirdest and most funny thing ever invented. :)
