The Beach House at Hawley

My brother Eden is a awesome builder and has his own business.  He works really hard and has built a couple of homes for himself (which his family have lived in) but he just recently built a 'beach house' which he and his wife Steph have decided to rent out as an Airbnb house (you can find it listed here).

Eden told me to book in for a couple of nights when they first listed it a couple of months ago, but we have been so busy with the boy's sports and other things going on, that we have only just been able to have a couple of nights there this week (thank goodness for school holidays!).

Mum also came and stayed with us even though she just lives up the road, as it was just nice to feel like we were having a little holiday even though it wasn't too far from home. We loved the welcome sign at the front entrance.

We had visited Eden when he was building the house, but it was so much nicer than I ever imagined.  Steph had styled it so nicely.

This is the main bathroom - I felt like we were at a luxury resort!

Jay was very happy that it had four bedrooms as it meant he got his own room, away from Harri and Kobe.
Kobe was so excited to be able to sleep on a top bunk.

I slept in the main bedroom and I didn't want to leave!

This is the ensuite for the main bedroom.

The boys loved that they had their own TV room and there were lots of games to play which was great, as it rained the whole time we were there.   It was actually so nice to be away from wifi and to just have some 'old fashioned' fun together.

One day we went into Devonport to go to the movies, and the rained stopped long enough for us to have a play and go for a quick walk with the dogs who were at Mum's house on their own.

It was lovely to go to Eden and Steph's for tea one night and to catch up with my sister in law Becky and her kids who had come up from Glen Huon for a few days. My brother Jared had to work so he wasn't able to come up. It was noisy with so many cousins together, but lots of fun.   Harri loves going to Eden's house because he always plays basketball with him.
My nephew Ezra absolutely loves Jay and they were so cute playing with Snapchat filters together.
Staying at the beach house brought up lots of memories of when Aaron and I finally got to move into our new house which we had built.  It was so nice to have everything brand new and fresh and now we are back home again it just reminds me of how old our house is and how much needs to be done (even though I still love it).  Thanks so much Eden and Steph for letting us stay in your beautiful beach house.  It was very hard to leave.

Young and Widowed - Sunday Life Magazine

You can tell it's the weekend as I've finally had a chance to sit down and blog - twice in two days!
About 8 months ago a journalist contacted me as she was wanting to write a piece about young widows for Sunday Life magazine - which is a lift out every Sunday in The Age and Sun Herald newspapers.
She said she had found my blog and was wondering if I was interested in being interviewed. I told her I didn't consider myself to be young, but I guess  I am young to be a widow.

Today the article was finally published.

There are a couple of errors - I'm definitely not 46! (turning 43 this year) and I think she was confused about when I had said that I moved house after Aaron passed away, because I had said we were on holidays on the east coast of Tasmania when he died.  We did move house, but we have always been in Tassie.

1 Second Everyday - March 2017

I've been very slack with my blog and it's not because there's nothing to talk about or no memories to record, but life is just so busy.  I'm still loving the 1 Second Everyday videos as it's such a quick and easy way for me to record a memory from every day.

This was our March.  When I look back I can't help but think how much we squeeze into a month, even though life can feel mundane and boring most of the time.   Now I'm wondering what April will bring.
