Snow!

It's been almost three years since we have been to the snow with the boys.  This year we've had early snow falls so it was the perfect chance to go yesterday, while Di was caring for Noah.  We have taken him before but it's tricky with the chair and if it was going to be freezing, it wouldn't have been much fun for him, so we were lucky we had a 5 hour block of time to go without him.

We told Kobe we were going to the snow and he was so excited and seemed to know what it was all about! I have no idea how he knows,  but he kept saying 'me throw ball at Daddy!!'.   When he woke up in the van just as we found some snow, he was so excited and couldn't wait to get out and play in it.

I had a photo shoot in the morning at the Gorge and it was colder there than up at the snow.  It was a beautiful sunny day, and was so warm that Aaron and I even ended up taking off our jackets.

Jay and Harri were loving it.  We found a snow man that someone else had built before we got there, and they were even clever enough to bring their own carrot.

We all decided to eat some snow.  Some balls we tried were bigger than others (look out for the yellow snow on there Harri!).

The boys loved throwing snow balls at each other (that was until Kobe got hit in the face and burst into tears).  Harri kept yelling 'bring it!'.

We even took some hot chocolate up with us because we thought we would be freezing by the end of it, but it was so warm we didn't really need it.  The boys still thought it was fun to have some anyway.

It was fun to go and have a play, especially on such a lovely day.  Whenever I hear the crunch of snow under my feet it reminds me so much of when I lived in the USA and had to walk through the snow every day for months and months to get to school etc.  It's nice to visit and play in, but I'm so glad we don't actually have to live in the snow like I did over there.

  1. Gorgeous photos! What a stunning day to be visiting the snow too!

I'm heading down to Tassie in early July and would like to take the kids to see the snow, so would love to know where this is.

    Thanks

  2. Hi Kirsten. There are many places you can go. We went to 'the lakes' which is central Tasmania - there is a whole lakes region which often gets snow. Otherwise people go to Mt Wellington in Hobart which is a great trip - beautiful scenery that overlooks all of Hobart if you are heading down there. Up north in Launceston you can travel an hour to get to Ben Lomond or Mt Barrow, but where we went is a 'nicer' drive in that it's good roads and was easy to take our van there.
