The Shave #2

Today at school Aaron shaved his head for the Leaukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave.  Even though the offical shave dates were when Jay shaved his head, the whole month is dedicated to raising money for the foundation.  Kobe and I arrived just as one of the Prefects had shaved his hair right down.

Because he did it for the first time last year, he was feeling a bit braver this year and decided to shave it totally this time - with a razor!

It was a little scary watching the students shave his head. I was wondering how many cuts he was going to get, but they did well.

Supposedly the aftershave balm was VERY cold! :)

Kobe was quite impressed with the new look.

Mr King thought he might sport the 'towel look' to class after lunch.  I'm not sure whether he could pull it off though!

It's amazing how fast Jay's hair has grown back since his shave. It is so much darker than it was before. Hopefully it won't be long till Aaron's grows back too! I'm still undecided about what I think, but it's all for a good cause.

Ready to Pop

So what do you do when you are due to have your 5th baby in five days!? Go to the gym of course! It was great to have Simone back at the gym today after a little break away. We kept joking about having to roll her off the bench because her tummy is about ready to pop, but you wouldn't have even known she is almost 40 weeks pregnant and she looks great.

I can't talk as I did exactly the same thing when I was pregnant with Kobe.  Going to the gym just makes you feel good and it made me feel worse if I didn't go, so right up until I was almost 42 weeks I went and rolled off the side of the bench when I couldn't sit up any longer.

Because we were all at the gym together for the first time in ages (and it is probably one of the last times that Simone comes for a little while) we had to take the opportunity to get a photo all together  with some of our favourite trainers.  We are missing Lisa up in the back corner with us, and knew she would love to see a pic of us together.   We didn't want Simone to feel bad so we all decided to join her and had pregnant tummies too :)

It's hard to believe that Kellie only just had Erryn a few months ago. It seems like she's always been around now.

Kell's other daughter Charlotte is so cute.  Kobe and Charlotte love being little monkeys together at the gym. I'm sure she's making the most of the time with Eden away to make the moves on Kobe, although here it looks like they are both playing hard to get!

We are looking forward to meeting Simone's little man when he finally arrives.  I'm sure he's going to get used to the gym creche pretty quickly :)

Splint Off

Noah finally got his splint off on Friday after having it on for 8 weeks.   He was going to have it off a month earlier, but he just wasn't ready for it and was flinching every time we would move his foot for a while.  We kept it on as long as possible, which meant that by the time he got it off his poor leg and foot was very swollen and very dry.

He was quite happy to have it off and loved me rubbing his foot, although I'm very nervous about touching it too much as he still seems to be in a little bit of pain with that leg. I can't work out where the pain is coming from, but it doesn't seem to be where the fracture was, but maybe more from his hips.

It was so nice to be able to give him his first shower without the cast on. We had been wrapping and taping it up with plastic bags for two months.

It was so nice to get some water onto his swollen little foot, and to be able to rub all that dry skin away.

Check out his tan line from where the plaster stopped :) Hopefully it will be a very long time before he ever needs plaster again.  His paediatrician wanted him to have another bone density scan, but because of our ridiculous health system he can not have another one until August or it won't be covered by Medicare, as it would've been less than 24 months since his last one.  The results of the scan will let us know whether Noah is a candidate for bisphosphonate therapy because he has osteoperosis.

Hopefully in the meantime he won't have anymore fractures.  It's scary to know that just a little bump can cause a fracture now.

Gorge Floods

Yesterday we couldn't resist heading up to the Gorge with the rest of Launceston to check out the floods.  After a very long and nervous night for a few of our friends, we were so glad to hear that although they were packed and ready to evacuate when the siren sounded, they didn't have to.

The water up at the Gorge was incredible. It was flowing so fast that the water was splashing right up to the paths and getting us wet at times.

There were so many people around that it was hard to dodge them with Noah's new chair as it is so big.

Harri was typical Harri and got sick of it after ten minutes. He kept asking how long we had been walking for and complaining that he had a tummy ache (what he does when he's tired of walking).  He was happy to sit down and have a rest while we had some lunch.

This little monkey was cracking us up as Jalen was going to take some photos of us together, so I went to kiss him on the cheek and then he started pulling all sorts of crazy faces on purpose, to make us laugh.

Thank goodness the water has peaked and there are no homes in danger of flooding anymore. Check out how fast the water was 'flowing'.  It was more like huge waves.

MKR

This afternoon we headed down to Gunns to see the Tassie girls - Esther and Ali from the TV show My Kitchen Rules.  They were doing a cooking demo for about an hour and being interviewed at the same time and talking to the audience.  It was fun to hear about which contestants they didn't like and who they got along well with, and about how the show runs.

When Esther had finished cooking we got to have a try of her meatballs which all the boys loved.

Afterwards they hung around to say hi to people, sign things and have photos taken. They were really lovely and just as nice in real life as they seem on the show. It's hard to believe that they are actually police officers and also such great cooks.   Supposedly cheeky Aaron said to Jay 'if only your Mum could cook and look as they do!'.  They are gorgeous girls and supposedly both single! Some guy(s) need to snap them up!

The show has already finished filming and they weren't allowed to say anything, but fingers crossed for them that they actually win.

Stalking pays off!

Ages ago I emailed in some photos of us with some Hawks players, to the Hawthorn Football Club, thinking that they may be able to use the photos on their Hawks Active TV show.  About a month ago I got an email from them telling me that one of our photos was going to be on the show.  Unfortunately it wasn't shown on TV tonight, but it was on their website.

The boys were very excited to see that we won.  I'm glad we beat the 'butterfly'!  I was just excited that Ben Dixon was talking about me! We used to love him when he played for them, and Jalen's teddy that he got when he was born is called 'Benny' after him.  Of course Harri has already claimed the prize!

When I'm not looking...

this little monkey gets his step out of the bathroom so he can do this without me knowing!

It's lucky I didn't leave the sharp knife laying around! He would eat watermelon all day long if I let him.

Just around the corner #2

You know footy season is just around the corner when Harri spends all morning watching footy replays on the Telstra T-Hub as he eats his breakfast.

It really IS going to be a very long footy season!

Better than Top Gear

Kobe woke up this morning at 6 am and the first thing he says is 'me go Wiggles 'day?!'.  We had been counting down the months until we could go and see the Wiggles live and he knew that today was the day.  We got tickets with Lynne, Pip and Ben, Simone and Kellie and all their kids.  I was one of the crazy ones who lined up before the ticket office even opened and was lucky enough to get front row seats.  It was so much fun being right up near the stage and seeing all their expressions.

Anthony even started climbing over our seats with Wags the Dog on his back to reach a child behind us who had a bone for wags!

Simone cracks me up as she doesn't really know the Wiggles very well and her kids don't even watch them! What kind of Aussie Mum of four doesn't know the Wiggles!?  She thought it would still be fun to bring Jonty along. Murray came up to say hi to him but Jonty was shy and hid behind Simone.

Every time we go to a Wiggles concert we forget to bring roses along for Dorothy, so this time we made sure we did it. Pip picked some out of her garden for us, and it was fun to be able to pass them to Sam as they came around and collected them.

Kobe was very excited to go, but when we got there he was like a stunned mullet! He just sat there in awe, staring at them and hardly saying anything.  When Dorothy came out, Anthony came over to us and looks at Kobe and asked what his name was. I said it was Kobe and he then said 'Dorothy, this is Kobe...he has a top on just like you' and told Dorothy to say hi to him.  Kobe was so shy and just gave her a little wave and a very shy 'hi'.

I think most of the kids were just in awe that the Wiggles were right in front of them on stage.  Cam though was going for it and grooving away to every dance!

It was a fantastic show with some new songs and also lots of old favourites. They also had lots of jokes for the adults, including Captain Feathersword playing 'Stairway to Heaven' on the guitar.

One of my favourites was 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' when they turned off all the lights.

Simone went to Melbourne last week and surprised Simon by taking him to see the live show 'Top Gear'. She wasn't really looking forward to the Wiggles, but she cracked me up as half way through she said 'I didn't think this was going to be very good, but it's better than Top Gear!'.  We had a great time and it was definitely worth the money.

Cousins

Kobe was so excited yesterday because he knew that his cousins were coming for tea. We had a family tea planned for a month and wasn't sure if Steph was going to make it as her baby was due last week.  They did make it and we can't believe how great she looks, even though she is 40+ weeks pregnant!

Maddi was so cute. She made Jay some 'craft' at home and gave it to him, because he 'helped the people with cancer'.

The kids had a lovely time playing, and enjoyed playing in the sandpit together.

Little Linc is so cute and tiny. It's hard to believe he is actually the age that he is, as he's so small.

The kids all piled in the bath together before they went home. Lucky we have a big bath to fit them all in now, although there was a bit of complaining that they were squashed! It's no wonder when there are so many kids in the family now!

Noah has had a great few weeks with his health and being really settled. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with him having Oxygen Energy Therapy (which I still need to do a post about).  Hopefully he gets his plaster off his leg at the end of the week.

Chloe was taking a pretend photo of us all sitting together, so I gave her my real camera to take a photo of all of us. She cracked me up when she took it and then looks at in the screen and goes 'that was a good one!'.

At the next family meal it will be exciting to have a little addition to the family. We are looking forward to hearing about Steph and Eden's little one arriving in the next couple of weeks and can't wait to hear what it is. I think it's about time there was another girl in the family since there are now 9 boys and 3 girls.
