P Plates!

In the past seven years we've adjusted to life without Noah and Aaron as much as we can, but there are times when we miss them more than others such as celebrations and anniversaries and at school and sporting events.  But I've especially missed Aaron over the past few years as I've had to teach Jalen how to drive on my own.

He got his Learners permit as soon as he could, but he wasn't that keen to go driving so he took a long time to get his L2s.  I actually felt really angry at times that Aaron wasn't here to help me teach him.  Trying to find the time and energy to do it was really hard at times, and I just wished I had that extra person who could've taken him.
Part of the reason he decided to have a gap year was because he didn't want to move away from home without having his license or a car. So early this year that he got his L2s and then did the 50 hours of required supervised driving.

We were finally about to book in a date for his P test and did a lot of practice in the lead up to it.  We were so worried that he wouldn't pass it, as it would mean another couple of months before we could get a date for the next test, and he would have to move away this year without having his license.

He was so nervous and kept saying he was going to fail, but he did really well and passed! The best thing is that he saved up all year to buy his own car, and got it just a few weeks before the test.  He has been loving having the freedom to just jump in his car and go wherever he wants.

The afternoon that he got his Ps he surprised Erin and drove out to her house, and then did a Maccas run with Harri and Kobe.  Since then there has been lots of trips into town, maccas runs and driving to Erin's. I'm wish that he was going to be around this year, as it would be so handy having an extra driver and car in the family, but at least he can now move away knowing that he can get himself around.  I'm so happy that he has his independence and don't really worry about him driving as he's very cautious.
I'll now enjoy the 18 month break before it's time to teach Harri how to drive!
