Special Gifts

A couple of months before we went on our holiday I was trying to organise car hire, but things were crazy at home so I kept putting it off.  My brother Chrish asked me if I had organised it, and I told him I'd been to busy so he offered to sort it out for us.  I told him that would be great, and I emailed him through the quotes I had gotten and kept hounding him, asking what he had organised.

He was being a bit funny when I would ask him saying 'it'll all be sorted out' but I'm usually a very organised person, and was starting to stress that he wasn't getting it organised in time.    Next thing I know I got a huge surprise package in the mail.  It was from my lovely cousins Konnie and Lanai who live in Queensland.

We had just caught up with Konnie and Colin and Aunty Marilyn and Uncle Howard during the summer while were at Bridport, just a couple of weeks before Aaron died.  They had come down to Tassie for a holiday, so it hit them really hard when they heard about Aaron.

In the package was some amazing things that they had been able to organise with local businesses on the Gold Coast.  They had emailed a lot of businesses and told them about Aaron and Noah passing away, and that we had a family holiday planned and they quickly got a lot of replies from generous businesses offering us some lovely things.

Konnie and Lanai had made it extra special by attaching an object onto each offer, which made it extra exciting for the boys as we went through and looked at each thing.

There were so many amazing offers and one of  most generous was free car hire from Redspot for the whole ten days we were there.   We had an 8 seater Kia carnival and Chrish was our trusty driver for the trip.

We were also given free entry into an awesome attraction called Infinity which was a fun house full of awesome futuristic mazes including mirror mazes, glow in the dark rooms, strobe lights and other awesome effects.  We loved it but Kobe was too scared to come in, so he stayed with Mum while we went through.

One thing we LOVED was free gelati the whole time we were there from an awesome gelati shop that was in the shopping centre that our hotel was in.

It was called Zanette's Gelati and they had the best flavours including peanut butter cup!

We actually only had it three times, but it was nice to go and some different flavours each time. The lovely guy that served us was really funny and would let us try all the flavours, and would make the boys whatever they wanted. He also told us how to make it at home, but for the life of me I can't remember what he said. Hopefully Mum remembers!

This was the last night we got some gelati.  Notice it all down Kobe's top!

We also got free entry into Skypoint which is the highest building in Surfers Paradise which had awesome 360 degree views. The boys loved going up there and we spent ages just looking at everything.

Mum and I were very lucky and were given a free massage at Calmer Therapies.  We were in heaven for 45 minutes as we left the boys with Chrish and got to just take some time out and relax. It was so good that we ended up booking another massage and going back the day that we left.

The boys were very excited about the free mini golf at King Tutt's Putt Putt.  The weather was on and off the whole holiday, so it was a fun thing to do on a day that was pouring with rain.  The people there were so lovely and when we turned up and showed them the letter that we were given to gain entry, the lady was excited to see us and said 'you are the family from Tasmania!?'.

We were also given a family pass to Australia Zoo, which is going to be a whole other post.

We can't thank Konnie and Lanai enough for doing something so special for us.  It was amazing to have so many businesses offer us such amazing things. It literally saved us thousands of dollars and allowed us to do so much more than we would've been able to.  We also got to do things that we probably wouldn't have even considered doing.

With everything that has happened over the past eight months we can't help but to also feel so blessed with so many people being so kind, in wanting to help make our lives a little bit easier and happier right now.

  4. Lisa, you certainly deserved it and it was so wonderful of your cousins and for those people to make you vacation so special. It has to make you feel special and help is small way to know that there are so many wonderful people and companies that really care for others. It will not take the pain away, but it has to help realizing that you are thought so very often and loved by so many, even people that have never met you. May God Bless you and your family as you continue to deal with the loss of you cheeky son, Noah and your eternal companion, Aaron.
I think of you every day and pray for you comfort and for your boys.
