Movie World

By far our favourite thing on our holiday was going to Movie World.  We had bought VIP passes for the three theme parks, so we ended up going back again a second time for 'half a day' the day before we came home, which actually ended up being another six hours, because we loved it so much.

The boys loved seeing all the movie characters and things from the movies, and jumped at the chance to get their photos taken with them.

Mum, Chrish and I took turns hanging out with Harri and Kobe (since Harri was too chicken to go on any of the bigger rides), while we joined Jay on the bigger rides.   Harri and Kobe spent hours in the kids WB section just going from ride to ride. It was a good time of year to go as the longest we ever had to wait for a ride was fifteen minutes, and a lot of the time we just ran around and got pretty much straight back on the ride.

Jay and I LOVED the Scooby Doo coaster and also the Wild West Falls. We would have a few rides on each, before running to the other one and then back again.

We ended up very wet most of the day, but it was worth it.  We did convince Kobe to come on it once with us, but he hated it and cried afterwards and refused to go on it again.

I love the Wild West section with all their cool buildings.

One of the highlights at Movie World was definitely the Hollywood Stunt Driver show. It was incredible and they did some amazing stunts. Harri and Kobe freaked out the first time we went to it, and just sat there blocking their ears the whole time.

It didn't stop them doing some stunts of their own in the kids dodgem cars later on though! ;)
The first time we saw the show I missed on video the grand finale as I wasn't expecting it. The second time we went back I made sure that I had my camera ready to video it. It was incredible!

The boys also loved watching the other shows like the Scooby Doo and Batman shows and superhero parade at the end of the day.

The boys loved the superhero capes and whenever we were waiting for Mum, Chrish and Jay to get off a ride they would just play superheroes and fight each other.

I am not one for huge thrill rides, but the second day we were at Movie World I decided to brave the Green Lantern and Superman Escape coasters. While lining up with Mum and Jay I couldn't believe I was about to do them, but kept thinking that it would be over in a minute and I would probably regret going home, and not giving them a go.

Aaron absolutely LOVED the Superman Escape when we were there for Noah's make a wish trip and was going on about it forever, so I knew he would be proud of me for going on it.  Mum had already done it the first day we were there and loved it.   The Superman Escape was so cool (you can see a video of it on YouTube here).  It was very, very fast and very scary but I LOVED it and would've done it again if the line up wasn't so long.

I HATED the Green Lantern and screamed like a lunatic the whole time and at the end I yelled 'do NOT go on this! It's awful!'. It looks really slow and tame, but I think because it went slower it made it worse, especially when it went upside down.

Mum, Chrish convinced Jay to go on the Batwing Spaceshot  as they said it wasn't as bad as the Giant Drop at Dreamworld.  He ended up loving it which was good.

We hated leaving Movie World because we loved it so much and could've gone again if we had more time.  Our pass lasts until June 30 next year and it would be so nice to go again before then, but I doubt we will be able to.

As we were leaving Kobe was crying saying 'but I want to stay and have more fun playing!!'.   We wanted to stay too Kobe.

  1. Dear Lisa,
I've been following your blog since January, but never left a comment.
First I want to say my heart breaks for you and your boys, and you are in my thoughts every day! I wish I could help in any way with your pain & loss!

I'm very happy you had a good time in QLD. Reading your post made me wish to go there as well. We have two kids (8 yr old & 2 1/2 yr old), so it looks like a great holiday for kids and big kids :-)

And just one last thing: Kobe is just so cute & looks so much like Aaron, but I'm sure you know this :-)

My thoughts are with you & your family!

    Bobbie

  6. Lisa,
I have been following your blog since just after Aaron passed away back in January. Someone on the Thermomix forum mentioned your story and I haven't been able to stop reading since. You are such an amazing, amazing mum ! Your truly are an inspiration. We have 3 boys Joshua almost 8, Jayden 5 and Bailey boo who 3 1/2 (Kobe reminds me a lot of Bailey and the silly things they do and say at this age), sooooo soooo cute. We live in Queensland (about 1/2 hr from Movie World and we're all about to get passes for the next year. Add us to facebook (Debbie Gibson) and if you manage to make it up again, who knows maybe we could all meet up so the boys could have a blast of a time. I have gone to make a comment so many times, and never quite know what to say, you're an awesome family. So lovely to see that you had a great holiday. Take care.
