Routines

Kobe has his routines before he goes to bed every night. If you don't do it right, then it takes ages for him to settle down to sleep, so instead of trying to rush him to bed I just take the time to do the same thing, every single night.  On Aaron's phone he had a lot of photos that he had taken which he used for the photo a day challenge on Instagram.

This photo was one that he used for the day for 'routine'.  Every night Kobe has to point to the letters on the hallway wall and on his door as he heads to bed.  On the hallway walls have 'KING', as well as 'FAMILY' and 'KOBE ' on his door.

Every  night he points to the letters and either tells us which letter it is, or waits for us to remind him if he gets stuck.  He then tells us what each word says.   Aaron used to love doing it with him, and it was his routine that he did every night with him.

We still do it together, and he has only just stopped saying 'Daddy did this with me', but now just thinks it's normal for me to do it with him instead.

  1. What a precious memory and how wonderful you have a picture of it to remember. I think it is an excellent way to help him settle to go to sleep. Going off to bed dreaming of how clever he his. N x

  6. My boys all had similar rituals, and it really helped them get ready for bed.

I'm glad that you are able to continue this one that Kobe had with his dad.

    =)
