Cabin Fever

Last night at about 2.30am I was woken up as Noah was breathing really rapid and he needed suctioning. He was really hot, and having lots of seizures (usually happens when he is under stress). For the next hour I was up and down suctioning him and trying to get his temp down. He started to vomit and I didn't think anything of it till today when he has wanted to vomit a few more times. I'm thinking he must have Jay and Aaron's gastro, but it is so hard to tell as he always has things going on.

Needless to say he didn't go to school (again) and now hasn't been to school for 8 school days in a row. I'm just about going crazy staying home so much. I think both Kobe and I have cabin fever. I was hanging out all day for school to finish as I knew Angie (one of Noah's carers) would be coming to do In Home Support for a couple of hours. It's good when Angie or Di come as they know Noah so well and I know they are comfortable to feed him, give meds, suction and deal with his seizures, so I can go out and know he will be fine for a little while.

Usually I spend the In Home Support time getting tea ready, helping Jay with his homework and getting the boys into the bath, but it was such a beautiful day and I was so sick of being inside that I asked the boys if they wanted to go to the gorge for a swim. Since we have been up there a few times lately, it has made me realise how much we take it for granted and how lucky we are that it is so close to home. Harri yelled 'of course Mum!', and I have never seen them get ready so quick. Aaron had staff meeting, so I knew he wouldn't be home till later.

The water was freezing, but it was such a nice warm afternoon. It was really quiet at first - just a few tourists around. The boys pretty much had the pool to themselves (except for a couple of bogans!).

Kobe was so funny and hated crawling along the concrete, so he would do a funny bear crawl.

He would dip his hands or feet in and then pull them out very fast! It was way too cold for him.

We decided to go for a quick walk before going home.

It was so nice to get out of the house. Hopefully we will have a few more warm afternoons to enjoy before daylight savings finishes and the cooler weather really arrives for good.

  2. I'm glad you got out and had some fun in the fresh air. You always sound so upbeat and with-it on your blog I sometimes forget there are other things going on behind the scene and at night which are the other 90% you don't blog about. You're awesome.

  5. Tone - I would die without my camera!
Thanks everyone. Carli - people often say 'you seem so calm and happy' etc, and I am, but I just remind them that I don't blog about all the bad stuff that goes on! :) It would be way too depressing! It's much better to focus on the positives as its the only thing that gets you through sometimes.
