This time last week....

All of today I have been saying 'this time last week I was....having lots of contractions....heading to the hospital.....in the shower at the hospital........pushing Kobe out' etc. I can't believe that Kobe has already been here for a whole week! It has flown.

This morning Di was coming early to do some In Home Support and I have been feeling really good, so I thought I'd make the most of the opportunity and go to the gym. Yes - I know - people are thinking I'm crazy, but I really feel good so thought I'd take Harri and Jay with me and leave Kobe at home with Aaron.

When I walked in the trainer saw me and yells out 'what are you doing here!?'. I told her I was coming to do Pump and she gives me the 20 questions - how was your labour, was there any intervention, did you have any muscle separation, how long was it, did you lose much blood etc. I told her it all went well and she was then happy to let me do the class as long as I 'took it easy'.

For the past 6 months or so we have been hearing all the pregnancy and labour jokes from the trainer. I thought it may have stopped now that I have had Kobe, and that the jokes would be directed at Emma who is pregnant, but we got even more jokes today during class. She always seems to be able to turn the lyrics of a track into something to do with labour. All the old ladies were keen to meet Kobe and have a cuddle, so they weren't happy when I told them he was home with his Dad.

It was the strangest feeling lifting weights without a big tummy! For the past few months I have been compensating for my huge tummy and only bringing the bar to a certain point, and today I was cracking myself up (easy to do!) as I would bring the bar to where I thought my tummy was and realised there was still another half a metre or so till I hit my stomach!

I have to say though that it felt great to be able to feel a little bit normal again :) I still have a big tummy - it is now a saggy one, but it is nice to be able to do things I haven't been able to do in a while, like lying on my back to do sit ups and lifting weights above my head more.

Maybe now the excitement of me having Kobe will die down and Emma and Simone can bear the brunt of all the pregnancy jokes from now on :)
