A Sunny Walk

Today Aaron was home sick with the same cold and flu that the boys have had. Noah was also home, and because Aaron was home it meant I didn't have to take Noah in the van to pick up Jalen after school. That is a good thing, but also can be a pain as it means that I don't get my lovely disabled park right at the front door of the school. Its especially handy to have that park on rainy days :)

The school has no parking at all and everyone has to park on the street which means you either have to get there really early for a decent park or you have to walk miles. To save having to fight for a park, I thought I'd take the opportunity to enjoy the sun today and walk up to school to meet Jay. Kobe was wide awake and we have never really used his pram yet (bit hard to push a wheelchair and pram at the same time!), so I bundled him up into his pram to give it a road test. Kobe wasn't that impressed by it all.

I had to contain my excitement on the way as I spotted the first blossoms for the year!! I absolutely hate winter - I'm sure I have a bit of that seasonal depression as I just feel yuck all winter. If the sun is out it isn't so bad. After I got home I just had to go back to take a photo of the first blossom I have spotted for the year. Bring on Spring!!!

"I'm not tired!'

Every Friday night Jay gets to stay up late. He has had a big week and is also not feeling well with a cold and cough that he caught from Harri. Last night I noticed he kept dozing off so I told him he should go to bed. He very quickly told me 'but I'm not tired!'. Ten minutes later this was him on the lounge room floor.

Speed Stack Relay

All week Jay has been asking if I could come to see him in assembly at school which was today. His class were running the assembly and he was going to be one of the presenters and share some work, as well as participate in a speed stack relay with his class, which he was very excited about.

His teacher has bought the class a few sets of speed stacks for the class to use for fun but mainly for them to use to develop their fine motor skills. It is basically a set of cups that you stack up in towers and then back down again and you race each other to see who can do it the fastest. She said a lot of the boys (especially Jay) needed a lot of fine motor practice but weren't keen on the usual fine motor activities - especially now they were in grade 3, but she said that they all LOVE to use the speed stacks and don't realise that they are developing their fine motor skills at the same time.

The whole class participated in the relay which was so fun to watch. The kids loved it.

Jay did a great job at presenting. He panicked yesterday morning when he woke up with a cough and croaky voice as he wasn't sure if he would get to talk in assembly still. He asked me whether his croacky voice could have been his voice breaking! I told him that hopefully he has a while to go till that happens yet. We aren't ready for anything like that just yet!

He also shared his work on sky scrapers.

Kobe was very well behaved during his first assembly. He slept for most of the time and when he did wake (whenever everyone clapped) he would just lay awake and then doze back off. Noah on the other hand decided to yell out at the beginning of assembly (he was home today but came to assembly with me), so Di took him out for a walk. Harri went to play at Ty and Callum's house so I'm sure he is having lots of fun. Thanks Jacquie!

A Long Week

It has been a very long week this week. I know people were starting to get a bit worried when I had two days off in a row from blogging! First of all our net went down on Tuesday which meant no blogging, emails, facebook or surfing the net for 3 days!! We have switched over to a different service provider, which meant we were without the net while the changeover happened, but hopefully it will be worth it with an extra fast internet connection now (Aaron thinks so anyway as he is the download King!).

To top off having no net for three days everyone has been sick. Its horrible that everyone is sick, and I also feel really yuck and like I have no energy either as I have been stuck at home all week and haven't exercised at all. I don't really exercise to lose weight (although that is a bonus if it happens), but more for the way it makes me feel, and I realise this week how much better it makes me feel when I get regularly exercise. I have been missing all my gym buddies too.

Harri has been quite sick all week with a horrible cough and cold. Noah has had the same thing and then this morning Aaron and Jay both woke up with the start of it as well. I really knew Harri was sick when he fell asleep on the couch one afternoon while watching T.V.

Despite being sick Noah actually looks quite good and doesn't seem too bad. We are giving lots of nebs, have the vaporiser going all night and are pumping him full of homeopathics hoping that we can get him through it without antibiotics.

We did get a nice delivery yesterday with a lovely electric throw rug arriving for Noah. I have had a few Qantas frequent flyer points for a while, which I know I will never use as the taxes are usually just about as much as a flight would be anyway, and we never fly with Qantas anymore. I thought I would check out the Qantas Online Store and see if I could find something worth getting on there with my points. I came across this lovely electric throw rug which is soooooo cosy and warm. Noah is always cold - especially at this time of the year, so it is nice that he can lay under it and be so toasty and warm. Mum - you will have to check it out. As soon as it arrived I thought of you and knew you would be so jealous - it is something I can imagine you would love too. Last night I used it during the night feed and it made me way too hot! I had to get rid of it.

Old School Friends

A week or so ago Pip, Bec and I arranged to catch up with lunch at my place. On Saturday we got a lovely surprise with an email from our old school friend Tonya, saying she was over from New Zealand for a few days and was hoping to catch up. It was perfect timing as we were already getting together. All four of us went through Primary and High School together and Tonya lived at Dunorlan also, so we caught the bus to school every day. I was even telling Jay last week about how fun it was on our school bus and how we used to have it decorated on the last day of school with balloons and streamers etc.

It has been almost 20 years since we left High School (boy does that make us sound old!!!). It is great having such close friends who I grew up with. It was funny as Tonya and I hadn't emailed for a while and she didn't realise that I had another baby since we last caught up. Last time we got together was the night that Pip was in labour with Oliver and she wasn't able to catch up with Tonya that night, as she was otherwise occupied :) We had a laugh saying how twenty years ago we would have thought being our age and having kids and jobs would make us feel so old, but we all still feel very young.

Last night I texted Simone telling her that I wouldn't be able to come to the gym today as Harri and Noah are both sick and I was keeping Noah home from school for a few days. While the girls were here for lunch, Simone surprised me with a visit as she was wondering how things were at home and came to see if she could help out. We were laughing as she was saying she was feeling bad for me being stuck at home with the three boys, and here I was lunching with the girls! Kobe is really starting to settle down over the last few days, so he was in bed sleeping away when she arrived and everything was quite civilised. It was nice to catch up with such good friends all at once.

Big Smiles

Today has been a lovely day with Kobe, especially for Aaron. The last month or so Aaron has come to church for Sacrament Meeting and has then had to come home with Noah every week as he is so cranky. Today he decided that as Noah isn't feeling well that he may as well just stay home with him and Kobe as I have to take Primary Music time and can't have Kobe while I am doing that.

Aaron said he had a lovely day as Kobe was quite settled. Today he has been giving lots of big smiles. Aaron tells me it was because he was home with his Dad all day :) I told him that maybe he should be the stay at home dad and I will go off to work ;)
