'I've got a baby in my tummy!'

Harri has been so funny since finding out I am pregnant. Everyday he looks at my expanding tummy and says 'your baby is growing Mum'. It is his 'nice' way of telling me I am getting huge already!

Lately he has been putting his 'blankie' up his top and says 'I've got a baby in my tummy'. He then tells me that my baby is going to drink milk. It is very embarrassing when we are out and he pokes my boobs and says 'there's milk in there for the baby Mum!' (sorry to any guys reading again!!).

The other night Aaron was laying back on the couch and Harri looked at his little pot belly and asked him 'what is in your tummy Daddy - a baby?'. I couldn't stop laughing as I had been telling Aaron for a while that his tummy was expanding with mine! Don't you love how honest kids are!

Too hot

The weather the past few days have been really hot (especially for Tassie!). Yesterday it was 29 degrees in Launceston, and today I heard on the radio that it was up to 32 degrees. The perfect temperature for me is about 25 degrees. I don't know how people live in Queensland where it is warm all year round! Winter would be great, but I wouldn't be able to cope in Summer.

After school today I was thinking it would be nice to go for a swim. Windmill Hill is closed while they build the new centre, which means the next best place for the boys is the Gorge. I love going up there, but by the time you drive up there, have a swim and walk back up the hill and drive home you are exhausted and feel even hotter than before. Especially as I am usually dragging Harri up the hill, while Aaron is pushing the wheelchair. I also don't like that sometimes it is just too cold for Noah to go in for long anyway, and that means he is sitting on the side in the heat, which isn't very nice for him.

Last Summer was great as our friend (chiropractor) Naomi would let us use their pool whenever we wanted - even when they weren't home. I think we probably got more use out of their pool than they did as they were always at work. It was so nice and just a few blocks up the road. They just moved house last week, and she is also on maternity leave, so we are missing her and her pool a lot! :)

After school I asked the boys if they would like to pull out their old blow up pool. They were very excited and I think they had even more fun than going swimming at a real pool.

Noah came outside and chilled out on the swing. The water was just a little bit too cold for him to sit in it.

We have a 'bee sprinkler' which the boys love. You plug a hose into it and it sprays everywhere - in all different directions. The boys love running around through it trying to dodge the spray.

They thought it was fun to grab it and spray everyone with it!

It was so hot I thought I would even join in on the action!

Gillian's 50th

Tonight we had a surprise progressive dinner, for Gillian's 50th. I had singing practice for our Christmas play first, so I arrived a little late for first course at Jasmin's. Gillian answered the door and was very happy to see me. I made it just in time for some yummy chicken soup. Gillian thought she was having a quiet tea at Jasmine's on her own, but I was told that she was very surprised and happy when everyone turned up.

After soup at Jasmin's we went to Geraldine's for main course. It was such a lovely night so we ate outside. There was lots of yummy food and it was great to catch up with everyone.

We then headed to the Polley's for dessert. Clare made a beautiful raspberry cheesecake.

Jasmin organised for everyone to do a scrapbook page for a special album that was presented to Gillian. I am yet to do mine, but promised Gillian that I would do her a page. There were lots of tears while she looked through it.

It was a really lovely night, and it was great that we could all get together for such a special occasion.

Old school friends

After the gym today Harri and I met up with some friends that I went to college with (years 11 and 12) for lunch . Lynne, Bec and I catch up quite regularly, but I hadn't seen Fiona since we left college - 16 years ago! Time sure does go fast.

At Don College we had a big group of friends that started as two groups- the 'Deloraine girls' and the 'Ulverstone girls'. My cousin Penny had a group of friends that she grew up with in Ulverstone and I had a group of friends from Deloraine, and we just all got to know each other and hung out together for the next two years. It is nice to still be in touch with people and to hear what is going on in their lives.

Fiona drove up from Burnie with her little girl Bonnie, who is also the same age as Harri and very cute. The funniest thing is that all four of us are pregnant! Bec is due in February, Fiona is due to have her third in March, Lynne is due in April with her second one and I am lucky last one due.

We met at Esk Cafe which is in the Museum at Inveresk. Harri decided he didn't want any sandwiches but thought the carrot cake looked pretty good.

After lunch Harri and Bonnie had a nice time playing together.

Anticipation

Lately Noah has been anticipating things a lot more. His aides at school have been doing 'round and round the garden' and 'this little piggy' and he has been actually waiting for the end of the rhyme with a little look like he is ready for tickle at the end, and sometimes he even a smile! They have been so excited.

He is also starting to even press his head switch on his own, to activate different toys. So far they have had the most success with using a CD player and also a bubble tube - a huge tube that has pretend fish in it and when it is turned on it bubbles and lights up different colours. They said that the other day he activated it about four times on his own!

Last night was the best night with Noah for a long time. He was laying on the floor and was really happy. I lent over to give him a kiss and he gave me a huge grin.

I then kept saying 'here I come Noah, I'm going to give you another kiss!' and he would look to the cheek that he knew I would be kissing and wait for it. When I would kiss him he would give me the biggest smile.

It went on for about 5 minutes - each time he kept on waiting for the kiss and then grinning.

And we were told we would never get any response from him! Pretty amazing for someone who is missing most of their brain!

No bed today, Mum?

The past few weeks I have stopped Harri having an afternoon nap (if he does he won't settle down to sleep till after 9pm lately). Before he would have a nap every afternoon for about an hour and a half, but would still go to bed at 7.30pm and go straight to sleep. It was a nice quiet time for me, where I could get the housework finished in peace, or just relax or even have a nanna nap myself if I had had a bad night with Noah, the night before. Now that he isn't having a sleep every day he often comes to me and asks 'no bed today, Mum'?, checking to see if he has to have a nap.

Yesterday he came to me and asked 'no bed today, Mum?' and I told him no, that he didn't have to go to bed. He must have felt tired which is why he asked me if he had to go to bed, because half an hour later I found him like this on my bed again!

He probably only slept for 1/2 hour but woke up really happy and went to bed at a decent time, which was good.

Virus

On Friday when Harri was cranky and sleepy, he woke up with a really high temperature. On Saturday he was back to normal. Then yesterday Jay woke up saying he felt sick.

All day he cried and was very pale and he said it was 'the sickest he had ever felt' (Jay can be quite dramatic at times!). He also had a temp and was really tired. Must be a 24 hour virus going around.

This morning he woke up looking a lot better and telling me he was okay to go to school (Jay would only miss school if one of his legs was chopped off - he loves it so much). I kept telling him that he should probably stay home for one more day, but he did get up at 6.30 am and seem a lot better so he went off to school.

I have been waiting for a phone call all day from his teacher to say he wasn't well and to come and pick him up, but so far I haven't heard anything. So far Noah hasn't got it, and hopefully he won't.
