Breathing is Good

I've had an awful week or so with feeling really run down to start with, and then getting really sick with the flu and chest infection.   All I wanted to do was sleep for days on end.

I'm feeling so much better now and it feels good to feel almost normal again. I'm still feeling so tired, but can at least get on with every day things.  When I was sick I  couldn't even get out of bed one day and just felt so bad as my temp was up so high and I was hot and cold, and shivering one minute and stripping off the next.  The day that I was at my worst was a Saturday so all the boys were home.  Mum offered to come in, but I knew I would be okay and the boys were helping out a lot, and had some friends drop off soup.    Harri came into me while I was in bed (dressed as Spiderman of course!) with a drink of water and said 'I'm going to help you Mum and am not going to be naughty ever again' :)

Over the last week or so I have watched a lot of daytime TV, and doing some reading which I never seem to have time for.  Simone had lent me an awesome book which I couldn't put down, and I had to chuckle at this quote from the book.

I hate having to have time off work, because I feel like I'm letting people down.   I know it's crazy to feel like that because everyone gets sick, but I still feel bad.  It's nice to have some more energy and to be able to get back to work again, even though I feel like my mind is in a fog even when I'm feeling physically well.

One day I was home, Jalen was also sick and had the day off school, so we spent the day lying in bed together just talking and watching Ellen together which we love.  It was nice to have some quiet time together and have a good laugh, even though we both felt rotten. I joked with Jay that he was going to be an orphan as I felt that bad for a couple of days. He didn't appreciate my joke, but I'm sure Aaron would've had a chuckle, as it's just the kind of joke he would've said himself.

Some people think I'm crazy but I try to get well using natural therapies.   Most years I end up getting bronchitis and this year was no exception and I know that I could take antibiotics, but I choose not to and hope to get over it without them.   Instead I bought these hoping they would take away the severity of it, but I'm not sure that they did much.

I had heard about a Chinese Circulation Therapy place in town that does cupping and scraping like what Aaron and I have done before, so I thought I'd go there and see what they were like.  The guy was great at explaining everything and how it will help and told me that my lungs were very bad and that he needed to 'fix first and then relaxation later', meaning that I need a few treatments which require a bit of cupping and scraping, before I can go just for a massage.  He scraped my whole back and it came up so purple straight away. He said it was because my lungs were so bad.  It hurt like crazy, but I do believe it will help to bring out all the toxins and clear my lungs.

He also did cupping on my chest and said that my left lung was worse than my right as the bruising came up a lot worse on the left side.

Even though I'm over the worst of it, I'm still feeling short of breath and have been coughing a lot, especially at night.  I went back to the doctor and they gave me a puffer to use for a couple of weeks and said that it looks like I'm just having trouble clearing the last bit of the chest infection. I hate having to take medications, but know that sometimes it's necessary, especially when I'm having trouble breathing.   Breathing is good :)

That's it for the year now - I'm not allowed to get sick anymore.  It's not fun at all, especially when I don't have Aaron here to look after me.

I Want To Cuddle Him

The day that Noah died was the hardest and longest day of our life.  We knew during the night before that it would be Noah's last day, and that we would have to say goodbye.  It was hard as we were waiting all day for people to come and say goodbye so the day just went on and on, but then it also seemed to go too fast.

As nice as it was to have my family there with us, and also Noah's carer's Di and Alison, it was so hard to share the day with others.  We really wanted to just be alone with Noah, but knew how important it was for everyone to say goodbye.

This was a quiet moment that Aaron and I got to spend with Noah alone.  I just found it on my computer as I was cleaning out some files.  All Aaron wanted to do was to pick Noah up and have a cuddle.  I did too, but he needed to rest as much as possible as he was so tired, and it wasn't nice for him to be moved.

It hurts to see how heart broken Aaron was.    I'm sure they are having so many cuddles now

Give him one from me honey.

More Family Photos

We absolutely loved our family photos that we had taken while we were in Queensland by Alana Aston Photography .  Alana sent us a whole disc with over a hundred beautiful photos on it, so I ended up getting all of them put into a photo book, and then some of my favourites put onto canvases.

I love the canvases on my dining room wall with the beautiful wall sticker in between, that my beautiful cousin Carli sent me.

We had so much fun splashing and playing in the water and love the photos that show us just having fun together.

When you gotta go, you gotta go!

We were a little bit cold and wet by the end of it!

Thanks again Alana for taking such beautiful photos for us.  We love them so much.

The end of our holiday

I'm finally at the end of our holiday blog posts. We had such a wonderful ten days away but we were actually looking forward to getting home as well (well some of us were - Mum wasn't too keen :)  On the day we came home we didn't have to catch our plane till later in the afternoon, so we had the whole day to spend in the sun (and of course it was the nicest day for weather the whole time we were there!).

We did feel sad about saying goodbye to our lovely hotel and view that we woke up to every morning.

Chrish had taken the boys to an awesome park earlier in the week, while Mum and I were having a massage, so the boys were begging us to take them back.  It was such a cool park with a jumping pillow, little tanden bike things to ride and a cool flying fox that we all had a go on.

We then spent a little bit of time at the beach which was actually 'closed' (for swimming) because the surf was too dangerous.

The boys kept commenting on how much Aaron would've loved jumping in the big waves

We had a lovely time meeting up with Ande and Josephine again, this time at Max Brenner.  Oh boy! It's lucky that we don't have it here in Tasmania because I fell in love with it!   Ande shared her chocolate pizza with us and it was delicious!

Kobe was loving his chocolate shot, but he had enough after a while which was lucky for me as I got to finish it off :)

We left Chrish with Ande and was going to be staying with them for a couple of days before flying home to Sydney.  That meant I had to be brave and drive for the first time up there. It was much easier than I thought and we made it safely to the airport in one piece.

The boys were so happy to see that our plane to Melbourne had TV screens, so it was a very quick flight as they were entertained the whole time.

Grandma was obviously exhausted and ready for a holiday!

In Melboure airport it was lovely to have the Watsons waiting at our gate for us, for a quick catch up of twenty minutes, before we had to catch our flight to Tassie.  The boys were so happy to see their cousins and Linc was giving them lots of hugs.  It was funny as there were heaps of people on our flight that we knew, which is always the way when you are in Melbourne.

We had such a lovely holiday and it was just what we needed to bring some happiness back into our lives right now, and it really helped Jalen especially.  It was nice to see the boys smiling lots, and to know they were really having a great time.  They are asking when our next big holiday is already!

The Scariest Ride Ever!

Just a couple more posts from our holiday, and I'm done.

From our hotel room in Surfers Paradise you could see a beautiful ferris wheel that ran every night till late.  We thought it would be fun, so on the last night of our holiday we went on it.  I had bad memories from when I went on one at Luna Park a couple of years ago, but this one was totally enclosed so I thought it would be a lot better.

Huge mistake!! I was petrified!

I don't know why I could handle going on the Superman Escape roller coaster but then freak out on a ferris wheel!   I think because with the fast thrill rides it's over before you really have time to think about it. With the ferris wheel it was going so slowly and the carriage was blowing around in the wind.

When we got on the guy told us that it was a fifteen minute ride, and that each carriage would stop at the top for a little while.   As soon as he said that I felt my hands start to sweat.  He then showed us where the 'emergency' button was and said that if any of us wanted to get off before the fifteen minutes was up, to press that and he would let us off when it got to the bottom.

As we went higher and higher I started freaking.  I tried to stay calm as Kobe also started to get scared and really wanted to get off.

Everyone thought it was a great joke and kept laughing at me and taking photos! What a cruel brother I have!

You would think with these faces that Harri and Mum were the ones that were scared, but they actually loved it.

At the top I ended up hitting the emergency button and they all cracked up laughing, as I got out with Kobe at the bottom. I told the man that Kobe was scared and everyone thought it was hilarious :)  Kobe and I were quite happy sitting on solid ground as we watched them go around and around.  Every time they would go past us I could hear them laughing and making chicken sounds.

It was good to say we survived the scariest ride ever (even if I did make an early exit!) and I don't think I'll be getting on a ferris wheel in the near future!
